Pilates in Artarmon, just north of Sydney CBD.

Pilates increases core strength, improves flexibility, breathing, posture and mindfulness through a series of exercises. At Mind Heart Body Centre, we offer a timetable of studio and mat based Pilates classes in our Artarmon centre, (a suburb to the north of Sydney CBD).

Studio Sessions

Our studio classes can host a maximum of three participants. Exercises will be performed ultilising  studio equipment, such as the reformer, trapeze table, combo chair and barrel. All participants will be taken through a range of exercises that are tailored to their specific goals (if you have a specific injury or a complaint you wish to work on, these sessions will be better suited to you).

Mat Classes

Mat classes can host a maximum of ten participants. Your instructor will provide a number of different exercises, each of varying degrees of difficulty. Exercises will be performed on a mat using a small apparatus, such as Pilates Chi Ball, Magic Circles and Therabands. Classes will run according to the school term.

Note: prior to attending a class…

  • Ascertain any elements of your thorough history that may be problematic for your practice, or any areas that you wish to work on.
  • Perform a comprehensive postural assessment, (including a real time ultrasound assessment) to ensure that you are able to activate your core muscles without over recruiting the more superficial muscles
  • Introduce you to some postural alignment cues that are tailored to help you improve your movements
  • Provide you with specific exercises to help make your first group class safer, less daunting and more enjoyable.

  • Pei-Jiun and Cathleen are fully qualified physiotherapists – Pilates assessments and classes are claimable on your health fund depending on your level of cover.
  • Artarmon studio classes, mat classes and assessments are all sixty minutes in duration.
  • What to bring to your assessment? Any x-rays or scans you may have, a doctors referral if applicable (but not necessary).
  • What to bring to a class? A towel, a drink bottle and socks for hygiene purposes.

All assessments and studio sessions will be performed at Mind Heart Body Centre – Suite 3, 92 Hampden Road, Artarmon (above 7/11 – corner of Broughton and Hampden Road. Entrance is on Broughton Road.)
